Pembrokeshire boasts one true unique factor. It hosts the UK's only true coastal national park. It is without doubt spectacular in nature with glorious sandy beaches, wooded estuaries, high hanging cliffs and a complete and safe sanctuary for local wildlife.

Walking is an ideal way of exploring the beauty and tranquillity of the Pembrokeshire national park. It consists of over 1000 km of bridleways and footpaths. The actual Pembrokeshire coastal path itself is a sensational 299 km long national trail that stretches from St Dogmeals in the north of the county to Amroth in the south of the county.

Thousands of people each year descend on Pembrokeshire each year with only one aim: to take in the beauty and serenity that the Pembrokeshire national park has to offer. Whether this be an organised club or society or the solitude of the individual walker. Many a visitor has come to Pembrokeshire not with sole purpose of walking its glorious ground but hence returned year in and year out to experience pastures new.

The national park authority guides and assists in organising these walks and the selection is diverse. You can take in a selection of over 200 circular walks, ranging from a one hour stroll to an invigorating 15km cross-country hike. There are short walks, gentle strolls and wheelchair and easy access walks. All possible combinations are catered for.

It is important to remember that the government introduced legislation in May 2005 which has given the public greater access. This is sometimes referred to as the right to roam. This has led to some areas of the national park to be affected and the park authority is consistently working to improve the paths themselves as well as information and signposting.

If your ideal holiday wants to incorporate a walk that includes wonderful coastline combined with rare beauty then look no further than Pembrokeshire. No one goes home disappointed.
